The situation is so bad that those who have any access to power spend most of it on the OASIS, trying to escape reality. born into all of this is wade watts. a boy in his early teens living in the slums in Oklahoma. life seems pretty grim. until the will of recently deceased billionare John Halliday is discovered. he reveals that he has hidden an "easter egg" in his invention the OASIS (a globally networked virtual reality simulation) and that the person who finds this egg will inherit his entire fortune. suddenly prospects don't seem quite as black as before.
